Pinar del Río is known by many as the tobacco capital of Cuba, because it is precisely here where the plant that makes us unique all over the world is cultivated. This prestige is due to the long and arduous working days dedicated by all the people involved in the production of Cuban cigars.

Of the Saurus, Anolis Vermiculatus (river lizard) is one of three endemic species, easily observable over river waters. They have the remarkable ability to be able to walk on the surface of the water.

La Palma cork, is an exclusive species of the province of Pinar del Río and is the only species of our flora declared a National Monument. It is said that "it has put many scientists to think", because this plant belongs to the Carboniferous period and Pinar del Río emerged 200 million years later.
