Brief review of the origin of the names of the municipalities of Pinar del Río.
The most remote antecedents of the region of the western end of Cuba prove that it was populated by human groups 400 years ago, organized socially in gentilician communities, composed each one by two or more keys or gens that lived of the fishing, the agriculture and the hunt.
In the first half of the 16th century the colonists had not yet established themselves in the West of Havana territories, however already around 1554 this situation began to transform with the arrival of the Hispanic colonists with the intention of settling in Western lands.
